The President and the Board of Governors of International College of Laparoscopic Surgeons (ICLS) are pleased to announce the launch of the International College of excellence for education and training in Minimal Access Surgery with the objectives of standardizing education, training and evaluation of Laparoscopic surgeons in India and abroad.

ICLS will provide a forum for credentialing and certification of laparoscopic surgeons and accreditation of laparoscopic training centers in India and overseas along with providing a forum for continuous education and training for laparoscopic surgeons.

ICLS, will not only certify that the surgeon has undergone optimum training to perform basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures, but also facilitate the process of learning and acquisition of skills for laparoscopic procedures.

A member or fellow of the college will gain immensely from the experience of eminent expert laparoscopic surgeons who will provide mentorship and proctorship for grooming of young surgeons and surgeons in training. The college will also organize CME based skills program exclusively for its fellows and members to facilitate periodic revalidation and up-gradation of knowledge, skills and aptitude.

Younger surgeons keen to pursue a career in Mimimal access surgery can apply to become Members of the ICLS (MCLS) by examination. MCLS is suitable for surgeons who qualified their post graduate examination and likely to pursue a career in laparoscopic surgery after going through examinations focused to assess their knowledge and skills in laparoscopic surgery.

Surgeons trained in laparoscopic surgery who are already performing basic and advanced MAS, can apply to become Fellows of the ICLS (FCLS) by examination. This would include evaluation of their knowledge, skills and aptitude in addition to their evaluation of skills in surgery at their centre ensuring safety as a laparoscopic surgeon.
